Ryde Inshore Rescue (RIR) will benefit from the sales of Wightlink’s 2023 calendar which, as usual, features striking images of the ferry company’s ships and ports, all taken by staff.
Adrian Farrell, Port Operative at the FastCat terminal in Portsmouth Harbour, captured the photo on the front cover of Wightlink’s flagship Victoria of Wight against a memorable sunset. Adrian chose RIR to receive the proceeds as he chairs the volunteer-crewed lifeboat service and is proud of the valuable work they do in all weathers.
“The photo was a bit of a fluke,” he explains. “We were returning to base after a call-out and suddenly spotted Victoria of Wight silhouetted against the setting sun. I was in the right place at the right time.”
Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield says: “Ryde Inshore Rescue is a good cause that’s close to our hearts, like the RNLI, and I hope our calendars will be popular with customers.
Calendars can be bought from Wightlink’s Wight Taste cafés on ships and at ports for £2.50. They are also on sale at RIR’s base at Appley Beach.
