Wightlink's ferry at the port in Lymington

Make the most of the Bank Holiday break

As coronavirus restrictions are easing, Wightlink is encouraging Islanders to treat their families to a mainland adventure with its Kids Go Free offer during the Bank Holiday break.

Under fives always go free with Wightlink and during school holidays it’s no charge for up to two youngsters under 16 travelling with an adult who has bought a foot passenger day return. Bicycles are carried for free on Wightlink’s ferries and FastCats.

Families or friends could exchange the Isle of Wight for the New Forest. After a short cruise on Wightlink’s Yarmouth – Lymington ferry, they could spend the day exploring its network of trails and quiet lanes.

Heading in the other direction, the delights of city life in Portsmouth are easy to enjoy with Wightlink’s FastCat from Ryde including viewing the Solent from the Spinnaker Tower, shopping at Gunwharf Quays and delving into the past at the Historic Dockyard.

Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield says: “All of our services are Covid-secure at all times with the highest standards of cleanliness. Face coverings are still required to keep everyone safe. Our passenger numbers are currently reduced to allow social distancing but our ships and FastCats are spacious and comfortable with plenty of room on board.”

Stuart James, Director of Marketing and Innovation at Wightlink, adds: “The Isle of Wight is a beautiful place, but we appreciate that, after being restricted to their local areas for so long, Islanders may be in need of a change of scenery.

“There are some great day trips to be had from the Isle of Wight, with the New Forest and top attractions in Portsmouth just a few minutes away. We hope our Kids Go Free offer will make it easier for families to have some fun exploring somewhere new this half-term.”
