Treat the dog

Celebrate the month of the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts, and take Fido on a trip to the Isle of Wight. It’s a very dog-friendly destination and we have all the information you need to make your trip run smoothly. On our vehicle ferries, you’ll find dedicated lounges where you can relax with your pet, and they’ll always travel with us for free.

Check out our guide to travelling to our ports and travelling on the ferry with your four legged friend.

Visit a Monastery

A monastery called Quarr Abbey on the Isle of Wight

The Abbey of Our Lady of Quarr is monastery situated close to our Fishbourne port. Quarr is home to a small group of Benedictine monks and you can learn more about the abbey in the visitor-centre and enjoy visual arts in the gallery. From the Tea Shop you can watch the wildlife through the windows – red squirrels can be seen, buzzards fly overhead and other birds perch waiting for a cake crumb or two. Light lunches are freshly prepared and make the most of the organic produce grown on-site.

Take home a taste of the Island in the Farm Shop you’ll find ale, honey, jam and chutneys, some of which have been produced within Quarr Abbey itself.

Make Mum’s Day

A trip to the Isle of Wight makes the perfect gift, offering mothers and their families the chance to get away from it all and enjoy some of the Island’s best features. From treating her to afternoon tea to joining a flower arranging workshop together, there’s something for every mum on the Isle of Wight.

But they say the best things in life are free! Spring comes early on the Island because of our southerly position and our unique maritime climate – so it’s a great time to get outside for a walk. Enjoy the countryside and look for the banks of wild daffodils and crocuses which all arrive sooner than on the mainland. The Island’s nature reserves are a great place to visit, too, as migratory birds pause here on their way north for summer.

Experience Pie Heaven

British Pie Week comes early in the month (starting 4 March 2024), but we won’t judge if you indulge throughout the whole month. Try a Steak, Red Wine & Thyme Pie at The Crab & Lobster in Bembridge or a homemade vegan pie of the day at The Sun Inn.

Or if you’re staying in self-catering accomodation, head to Wilkinson’s Pies in Sandown. You can see the owners Kevin and Sue Hare making pies in the shop and take some home to eat. Previous pie specials have included curried goat pie, roast veg pie and even a spaghetti bolognese pie.

Find time to relax

The Slow Motion Wild Spa has returned to Tapnell Farm, bringing a taste of Finland to the countryside until 17 March 2024. It’s the brainchild of celebrated DJ, music promoter and festival mastermind Rob da Bank who runs Slow Motion Retreats with his wife Josie.

Two saunas (one gifted by Finland to the Isle of Wight) are located at Tapnell Farm for this special pop up and boast lake views, a fire pit, pine body scrubs, cold tubs, showers, changing area and free parking. It’s the perfect excuse to escape for some ‘me’ time with friends and family and you have the option to enhance your experience with a massage, sound healing, cacao ceremonies or meditation too.
